Re: WEBI object lost after a corrupted Universe recovered

Hi Angie,

You may have problems with existing WebI reports.

What version of the product are you using?

Do you have a back-up of the original Universe or are you creating from new a copy of the corrupted Universe?

The best way to avoid problems would be to use a back-up of the original or create new the EXACT same Universe (same objects names, etc) and save it as the same Universe name (short & long names) as the original Universe and publish that.

WebI will look for the CUID of the Universe it was original created on, but if it can't find the CUID, it will then look for the Universe by the Universe short name (SI_SHORTNAME).

Some versions have a product limitation that doesn't allow you to edit the query of a WebI document if it can't find the Universe the report was created on, so what I would recommend is making sure that you have a working Universe in the system with the SI_SHORTNAME that the WebI report would be looking for (so same file name as the original, not TEST.unv).

Note the following:

  • SI_NAME = the Parameter Universe name
  • SI_SHORTNAME = the “Save As” file name

You can use Query Builder to check the Universe short name to be sure it's the same:

Select SI_NAME, SI_SHORTNAME FROM CI_APPOBJECTS WHERE SI_KIND = 'Universe'

After there is a "good" copy of the Universe in the system with the same SI_SHORTNAME as the original, you can edit the query properties of the existing reports and make sure they are pointing to the good copy.  Even though the report will find the Universe by shortname, it won't automatically re-create the link by CUID, so you'll need to manually do this.

I hope this helps!

Carly
